If you’re an adult, how do you wear the gingham print that has been popping up every Spring/Summer season? This season is no exception. I personally have an issue wearing anything plaid, and gingham particularly gives me terrible fashion heartburn. For me gingham is the equivalent of fashion squaredom. I just can’t do it. It reminds me of Dorothy (yellow brick road), and picnics and it’s a world that is as far from fashion as I can fathom.
I cannot for the life of me marry these 2 concepts. Cute is reserved for 12 years olds, not adults.
So off I went to scour the internet to prove myself oh so terribly wrong. I wanted to investigate ways that might make me want to change my fashion mind. Did I come around? Well…some of these styled pics and gingham styles are within my realm of fashion possibilities now. Of course any super model can make it work and the pages of Vogue will always help me imagine a gingham style I could get into.
How do you make gingham look stylishly fun and sexy? Let me show you a few ways. The trick is not to wear anything in this print that is well…just a BOX SHAPE. This look is already so rigid, you can’t make it more so. I have come to the conclusion that the ONLY way to work it is to have a body part showing. This could be your shoulders, legs, chest…anything but please show some skin…or you will easily be mistaken for that girl who is following the yellow brick road and on her way to the next best boring picnic.
If I can manage to make gingham work then so can you my lovelies. Get out there and wear your best gingham and look like the stylish, fabulous, adult wearing gingham fashionista girl ever! xoxo
