I have so much respect for fashion bloggers because I know first hand how much work goes into this, and if you are a crazy fashion addict who loves posting and writing, and taking fashion pics, and you have a full time demanding job…I bow down to you. You are the real Queen B…okay Queen of Fashion…. (forget Queen B people). The only reason we do this is because we have a pure love of fashion and style. It takes a certain drive, focus and craziness to do this.
I love my fellow fashion bloggers because we share the same addiction and determination to inspire great style. I am thrilled to be featuring and sharing with you some of my very favourite fashionbloggers from around the world.
My very first feature is Ana, from www.champagnegirlsabouttown.co/uk. I love her sense of style. Like me she is a lawyer so I can completely relate to her and I simply adore her. I have been following her for a few years now and I always look forward to her amazing posts.
Here’s my interview with the one and only Ana.
FJ: What inspires you and your personal style?
ANA: My style has certainly changed over time and whilst I used to love immaculate “uptown girls” outfit and hair, now I hanker after something a little edgy and a little bit dishevelled. I love the way French girls put their outfits together. They mix designer with high street and vintage so they never look too precious. I love scrolling through images of Isabel Marant in her leather pants and sweatshirt, or Lou Doillon in tuxedo or oversized jackets. I also love to steal pieces from my husband’s closet. I wear his caot, denim and jumpers. It helps that he is French and very slim! I think masculine pieces can look great on women, they can look bit nonchalant and very very cool.
FJ: Why blog and what do you love about blogging?
ANA: My friend, Patricia works in wine business and has this enormous knowledge about wines and champagne. She noticed that lots wine blogs are written by men and for men, and she wanted to inject bit of fun and female perspective into the industry. I love fashion and writing and so we decided to start a blog together talking about our passions- wine and fashion. We’ve been blogging for a little over two years and it has been fun, having this project together.
FJ: Who are your style icons?
ANA: Every once in a while I have a style crush I’m obsessing over. These days is Lou Dillon and a German blogger, Maja Wyh who is a queen of layering. Emmanuelle Alt and Isabel Marant are also my icons and I shamelessly copy their style.
FJ: Where do you shop?
ANA: One of my favourite stores is Pandora in London. It’s a designer agency where I found many fabulous clothes. I like quality clothes but if I can get them at a bargain price, all the better! I also love Selfridges department store, which is great for everything, from their denim studio to up-and-coming designers as well established brands. On the high street I love Zara Men where I buy best shirts and jeans- I love their denim in xs, they have just right amount of slough but aren’t to big. I also love Uniqlo Men for crew neck cashmere jumpers.
FJ: Do you wear or shop for vintage?
ANA: Absolutely although I’m not great at finding vintage pieces so I rely on my mum who has excellent eye and knows my style. I also love my grandmother’s closet- she gave me one of her silk tea dresses, YSL platforms (which sadly my dachshound ate as she had a taste in expensive shoes) and her fur jacket. I don’t wear it that often but when I do I always think about her.
FJ: What is your style obsession?
ANA: I’d say leather trousers are definitely my biggest obsession. I have several pairs and I’m always on a lookout for a new one. I’m dreaming about St Lauren motorcycle leather pants from a few seasons ago. They had zips on the knees and are just the coolest pants ever. Sadly, when I tried them on I was between sizes so I left empty handed. I’m least obsessed with dresses, I only own a few. I’d much rather go to an event in a tuxedo than a dress!
Certainly a stack of leather pants! I also own a lot of coats, some of them were custom made for me when I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted.
FJ: How to you manage your time and find the time to blog?
ANA: It’s a constant balancing act. I have a full time job- I own and run a law firm, which is incredibly absorbing. But our blog is very important to me so I make sure I take enough photos on the weekends both for the blog and for Instagram. Sometimes I go to the office early morning to take photos on empty London streets. Sometimes work takes over so I don’t post that often on Instagram. Sometimes I can spend more time on the blog- like last year in March when I went to Paris for a week during PFW. I had invitation to a few shows and decided to make a holiday out of it. It was fabulous. It’s important for me to have both. I get obsessed with things like work an projects so it’s important to be able to step back and do something else for a time.
FJ: How often do you post?
ANA: I post twice a week and Patricia posts once a week.
FJ: Heels or flats?
ANA: Flats! I used to be a die hard fan of heels but I got fed up of constantly having to change shoes before meetings etc. I thought- why can’t I look fabulous all the time? So now I look for low heels (I have an eye on this season Dior kitten heels sling backs) or flats.
FJ: As you live in London, how would you describe London style?
Londoners have so many different styles and truly, they are all great. I particularly love that cool urban vibe, slightly punkish, a bit 80’s- basically very Vetements but you know, London has been sporting this style for a few decades already 🙂
FJ: How long have you been blogging?
ANA: I’ve been blogging for just over two years.
FJ: What do you want your followers to know about you?
ANA: I’m obsessed with Instagram! It got to a point that my family and friends send me messages over Instagram as they know I’l definitely get it. No one tries to communicate with me over Facebook anymore.
Thanks Ana. You’re terrific.
