As early as last spring, we started seeing the trend towards statement sleeves and it’s only gotten hotter. What started out as a bit of s statement, turned into huge statement sleeves. Instagram stars, street style starlets and style icons have been spotted in these oversized sleeves, from Europe to North America.
The good news is that everyone can get in on this trend because it has nothing to do with your size, so every single gal out there can pull this off. The question is just how far do you want to go? You can opt for something a little more moderate or you can be as dramatic as you want to be.
Personally I would go with the high drama (but you knew that already…and yes of course I already have). But you’re not me and if you want a sleeve that says look at me…but not so much…then you can still play the sleeve game.
The other good news is that you have lots of options. Go for ruffles, bell sleeves, super long sleeves (which are always oh so comfy), bishop sleeves or cold shoulder sleeves. Go sleeve happy if you must. You can enjoy making this statement on a night out, a special date or add pinstripes and be serious in your sleeve making statement at the office. Whatever you do, make it your own personal style and wear it how it works best for you.
There are also lots of DIY ways you can add some interesting stuff to your sleeves. If you have some sewing skills and time to find an interesting fabric, you can easily create your own drama by adding fabric cutouts to your sleeves.
See how these style experts wore their sleeves and get inspired. Oh and you don’t have to spend a fortune like these folks have. They are wearing designers like Celine. You can do this right by dropping between $30.00 and $90.00 at your local H&M (www.h&m.com , Zara (www.zara.com) or Forever 21. (www.forever21.com) Now that’s not a big price to pay for a start is it?
Whatever you do, have fun with it and look your best. Stay Sleevelessly Fabulous! xoxo
