After a long week, I finally decided to plop myself on the couch and do nothing…which never happens. I managed to watch some TV and came across an episode of Lucy and of course my fashion brain, which is always turned on, sees nothing but this great dress! Oh how I would love to be wearing this dress! This dress is elegant, and proof that great style is truly timeless. I could totally see myself in this dress.
This of course got me thinking about whatever happened to women’s sense of style over the years? It used to be that fashion and dressing were a part of every day life. It seems that fashion today is so much more accessible. We can buy great style at a fraction of the price today, yet why is it that we look less elegant? With Zara www.zara.com, H & M www.hm.com, and a Forever 21 www.forever21.com, at literally every corner , there is no excuse to blame your wallet.
While the formality of dressing up has gone away, we (yes North Americans), have become a culture of casual dressing, not only in the work space but everywhere. There is nothing I find more offensive than seeing women in flip flops, uggs or tights (which are NOT pants) at the office.
There is no excuse for giving up when fashion is all around you, and it’s affordable. Need help? I can help you with your styling needs. Just remember, style is not a reflection of your budget. It’s a reflection of who you are presenting to the world. Show the world your best self. You deserve it!
