I hosted a party last night and the question of the night seemed to be “Where did you get that dress?” Anything under $100 is a steal and especially when it’s a formal party dress.
This post is intended to prove for once and for all that you don’t need a lot of cash to pull together a fabulous look. It’s not about how much you spend on what you wear (well except for shoes). It’s all about how you work it. I have seen the most expensive outfits (I am talking 4 digits here) on folks who make them look …ahhh not as expensive as they are. So never ever be discouraged by having a small shopping budget because we live in a fashion world where we have access to runway looks at a fraction of the cost. Hello Forever 21, Zara, H&M. If you can indulge in a few expensive pieces then have fun mixing high-low, that means expensive items with very lost cost items. Wear your cheap outfits with confidence and you don’t need a big wallet to look like a celeb.
My dress is from H&M. I bought it last summer, with no specific event in mind but I picked it up for $79.99! I knew it would come in handy once day and I was attracted to the elegance it exuded. It made me think of the perfect hosting party dress….and I guess I manifested its purpose as that is exactly what I wore it for.
The total look came together starting with my hair getting blown out at my fave place www.blowdrylounge.com. A must for every event! Always get your hair looking as fab as possible. The folks at this place in my hood are amazing!
My make up was courtesy of a wonderful make up artist, Johnny, at the Holt Renfrew, Bloor Street, Toronto Charlotte Tilbury counter. I am in their very capable hands for each and every event and I always go in looking scary as hell, and leave there feeling like a celeb!
On my flight back from Montreal last week, I walked into Bizou, a jewellery retailer in Quebec, at the Trudeau airport (because leave it to this fashionista to find a special piece at the airport of all places). It was only $25, and what a stunner!
My shoes were So Kate Louboutin stilettos. Expensive shoes don’t change this outfit so fear not …you don’t need expensive shoes dolls!
Total cost of this OOOTD without the shoes? A mere $125!! Did I get that right? I can’t do math really well and yes that’s why I went to law school…the point is you can be a fashionista on a budget and I mean a great dame of a fashionista! Style up sweeties! You deserve to look your best! Muah Muah Muah
