I just couldn’t contain my excitement last Thursday night as I literally felt as though I stumbled upon the the fountain of youth. But that was no fountain of youth dolls, it was a pair of over the knee boots for a price of $52.00! Yes you heard me right. Thank you Forever 21 for being that rational voice of reason. I will happily place these boots next to my $1850 Brian Atwood shoes, except maybe these ones might be on the lower end of the shoe shelf.
Now these over the knee boots were really spotted as a trend 2 years ago, and it really isn’t until this season that this boot has become the “HAVE TO OWN BOOT OF 2015.” I have to tell you I just couldn’t feel this trend until this season. I really think it wasn’t until I started seeing them worn with floppy hats, big sweater dresses and skinnies, that I started seeing how I might be able to pull this off without looking like a 5 foot nothing Pretty Woman. No doubt you can end up looking like Pretty Woman walking the streets, if your street style is not hitting a high style note. Here are some tips on how NOT to be looking like you are working in the world’s oldest profession.
- The only skin showing should be the between your boot and your skirt or sweater. Cover your neckline and sleeves.
- Don’t let the boots take over the entire look, play it down with the rest of your outfit.
- The skin showing between the boots and your hemline should be minimal.
I adore them with a fur coat!
If you can’t find the perfect over the knee boot you can improvise with a long over the knee sock. This is what I did for my Halloween Ariana Grande Halloween costume – pre over the knee boots entering my life.
They look stunning with a slouchy sweater dress.
Miroslava Duma is wearing the suede black boots and she is only 5 ft tall. She is proof that you don’t need to be a runway fashion model to pull this off. How adorable is she?
On another note, I never wanted to spend a small fortune on this look because I don’t think it will stick around for too long. Funny that the only ones I seemed to fall in love with were priced in the $600 to $800 range and there was no way I could justify this type of a splurge. So you could imagine my excitement upon magically stumbling upon these reasonably priced babies! I promise to post pics of me wearing them on my IG page, so do follow me at ‘lawyerpina147’ as I have more outfit pics than I could ever manage to post here…although I promise I am doing my best!
With shorts and a big sweater is one of the hottest ways to rock this trend.
Love these boots with a Chanel jacket and accessories.
Here’s a runway look and quite frankly, the streetstyle looks are so much more appealing – as worn on the streets by real women. Don’t you agree?
Yes, over the knee boots can be pose a style challenge. But done right, and no matter what your body type – curvy, short or petite, you can do this! Yes they look amazing on the runway models with extra long gams, but we all know that the real women of the world are you and I – right here- every day – translating the runway looks for the average amazing gal. Check out these looks, get yourself a styling pair of these and show the world that nobody can do this better than you!
