Canada voted in a new Parliament yesterday and we are entering a new era in the Canadian political landscape. Canada has entered the new Trudeau era. Our country’s parties are not as dramatically opposed as parties in other countries…meaning we are not far to the left and so far the right. Boring you say? Well, we basically have 2 parties, who, over the years fight each other to get into power. Regardless of one’s political affiliation, and perhaps it’s the Political Science major in me, I am hooked on watching and uncovering the wins and losses on election night, whether it’s Canadian or American.
There is something very rewarding in seeing the tired but excited look in the winning leader and campaign team’s eyes, as they relish and enjoy the ultimate prize. Of course it’s only for a little while as there is nothing but mountains of work and challenges ahead. So keep flowing that champagne I say! Embracing the prize is as much fun as enjoying the journey. It’s like playing hockey your whole life and finally winning the Stanley Cup…or like busting your behind to get into law school, pass the bar, article and finally have your ultimate goal realized, after years and years of hard work. There is a graceful elegance in achieving the goal of having the privilege of being in charge of running one of the best countries in the world. Despite the winters that I so blatantly detest, I love my country and our amazing people, and I am extremely proud to be a Canadian.
So, how does one tie in one’s love of politics with a fashion and style blog? Two things easily come to mind. First, on the style front, let’s just admit right here and right now, what’s already been covered in the papers today, yes world, we have a very stylish, energetic, young and good looking family representing Canada. While there is a political message of positive and inspiring change, so too, on the exterior, you have to agree that it’s a breath of fresh air to see a beautiful, young, stylish and smart couple at the helm of our great country. Thank you Mr. Prime Minister elect, for helping me to spread my mission – as we do here each and every day at www.fashionjustice.ca, that being smart so too, means being stylish. On a personal note, this makes my heart melt!
Secondly, as this new Liberal government’s sweep is unprecedented, today everyone is talking about what the Liberal campaign did right, and where did the Conservatives go wrong? This fascinates me to no end! I wish someone out there will write a book or produce a documentary on this insane win. As a blogger, the big lesson I take from this is, have a focused message, stay true to your message, connect with your audience and be consistent. There is no substitute for hard work but you need to listen to the people and give them what they crave and need. As a politician, you focus on things such as jobs and healthcare. As a blogger, you focus on your very specific message, whatever that is. My message is simple, I am not here to change the politics of my country (well not yet, but I certainly reserve my right to share that with you at a later date and when the time is right), but what I am here to do is make sure that I am able to tickle your soul and inspire your style. Each day I seek to encourage fabulousness in your life. Basically, I have said it before and I will say it again my little darlings….my one and only mission is to revolutionize the world by adding a little more fun, colour, spirt and style to your everyday lives.
Be Smart, Be Fabulous and Always Seek to be Inspired xoxoxo
